Dr. Walter Diaz, Vice President of Student Affairs, served Eastern with distinction for the past 22 years. With Dr. Diaz’s retirement on February 1, 2022 Eastern is losing a veteran administrator and a great friend of our students, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Diaz has provided outstanding leadership in a range of administrative roles, including as Director of Housing, Director of Career Services, and Dean of Students, before assuming his current position as Vice President of Student Affairs in 2017. Dr. Diaz is a compassionate administrator and advocate for students and has mentored hundreds of students as an advisor to the OLAS and MALES student clubs.
In addition, Dr. Diaz has implemented many innovative programs and services in the Division of Student Affairs. Dr. Diaz’s talents and service to students have been recognized through numerous state, regional and national awards, including NASPA’s Pillar of the Profession, and most recent receiving the Education Leadership Award presented by the Connecticut Chapter of Prospanica. Prior to coming to Eastern, Dr. Diaz served in similar capacities at Tunxis Community College, Dartmouth College, SUNY Utica, and UConn.
